The Sun & Railway was situated at 11
Church Steet. This pub opened during the 1820s as The Sun. As the position
was close to the Midland Railway Station, it was renamed The Sun & Railway
in the 1850s. Following closure it became a corn merchants, then a garage.
It has now demolished and replaced by housing. |

My grandparents George and Doris Sargeant (former married
name Rollinson) ran this pub during World War Two. My father told me it was
popular with the American Servicemen. |
