White Hart Hotel

The White Hart Hotel was situated on Southgate. This pub has now been converted to offices.
In the year 1985 we made a very long tour by bike from Stuttgart in South Germany to Edinburgh. One evening we arrive at Sleaford. There we fortunately found this hotel. We got a room and checked in. Moreover we decided to have our dinner there too. It was an unforgettable dinner, and we still like it very much to remember! On the ground floor there was a pub. We asked for the menu and we were given one with an extreme limited offer. We decided to take a steak with chips. One hour later we were asked to follow to the dining room upstairs. So we did and after having arrived there we were surprised in a huge room where the ceiling was extremely far away, we found a very long table near the stove, we were asked to take a seat. We were overwhelmed to find ourselves in such an impressing environment. A very, very friendly and elegant lady asked us how we would like our steak to be done. She spoke so quietly that we had enormous problems to understand her.. But we succeeded in doing so and after some time we could enjoy a wonderful prepared dinner. We had the feeling to sit in a knights hall. We were deeply impressed. Till today we like to remember this wonderful evening and we often talk about this extraordinary event.
