The Lion Hotel was situated at 7 Northgate. This pub was present by the early 18th century when it was called The Packhorse Inn.
This pub has now re-opened a few years ago when the building was bought by the JD Wetherspoon chain who altered and refurbished it and reopened it as The Packhorse, its former name.
