My grandparents Harold and Sophie Howard were
the publicans at the Vic from around 1952 to 1956. I have many fond memories
of staying there (I was born in 1948): playing upstairs in the Buff Room and
picking gooseberries in what was then a large garden next to the pub, and
Grandad keeping pigs in the stables at the back. Grandad had faught in the
trenches in WW,1, and was very upset when a new pub sign arrived featuring
the ship the Victory. |
