The Victory was situated on Boultham Park Road. This pub was built in 1919 to commemorate the end of WWI, closed in 2014 and demolished in 2015.
My grandparents Harold and Sophie Howard were the publicans at the Vic from around 1952 to 1956. I have many fond memories of staying there (I was born in 1948): playing upstairs in the Buff Room and picking gooseberries in what was then a large garden next to the pub, and Grandad keeping pigs in the stables at the back. Grandad had faught in the trenches in WW,1, and was very upset when a new pub sign arrived featuring the ship the Victory.
