The Rising Sun was situated at 31 Hungate. This
pub was present by 1840 when the publican was William Walker. it closed in 1935
after police advice on its structural instability and was demolished during
the city's 1930s slum clearance. The site is now occupied by 1-3 St
Cuthberts Court. |

On 24th September 1870
George Hopkins, landlord of
the Rising Sun,
was accused at Lincoln Quarter Sessions of maliciously stabbing John
Goodyear, a labourer of 9 Mount Pleasant, in the left side of his chest. |
