Three Tuns
|
|
|
The Three Tuns was situated on the Market Place.
This pub
was demolished in the late nineteenth century. The Three Tuns was kept by J.
Biffham who brewed her own beer and she was nicknamed 'Keggy'. Keggy had a
reputation for buying illicit gin and after being caught by Customs and
Excise she had her licence reduced to a beer house. The
Three Tuns Inn has a somewhat grim history associated with it. When it and a
nearby prison were demolished, it was reported that a skeleton with a knife
still in its back was discovered. |
