My grandmother, with her second husband (Elsie and Charlie Haig) were the
last managers of the British Arms. Over the years they also managed several
other pubs in and around Leicester including the George Hotel in Hinckley,
the Eclipse on the Clock Tower, Leicester and the Diamond Jubilee in
Belgrave Gate. There is family anecdotes that say the pair went through a
number of fortunes thanks to their love of the horses. |
