This pub was originally known as the Fusilier's
Arms but had its name changed in perhaps the late 1960s or so as it had a
'bit of a reputation' as a 'lively' pub, if you know what I mean. Went in it
a few times in the mid 1960s when the brewery was Swales (or Swales' swill).
Customers would usually drink bottled beers rather than the 'swill' on
draught. Today's Cross Lane is a very pale shadow of what it was like many
years ago. There were shops, cafes and pubs galore pre-1970s, a real slice
of Salford life for sure. |
