The Union Hotel was situated on the corner of
Peddar Street and Maudland Bank. |

The Union closed as a public house in the 1950s. It was purchased by
Lancashire County Council and used as a refuge for young mums and babies. It
was demolished in the 1970s, when the whole of Maudland Bank area was
demolished to make way for new housing. My Gt Grandfather John W Wane was
landlord in the 1930s before moving to the Duke of Sussex on Kent Street
where he died on Christmas Day 1949. |
