The Princess Royal was situated on Byron Street. My Grandparents Mr & Mrs J Shaw used to run the pub in the 1950's. The front door was in Byron St and the back door was in Brougham St which you entered via a lobby hence the question was 'art goin up lobby t'neet'? This pub was demolished in the 1960s along with most of the immediate area.
