Painters Arms

The Painters Arms was situated on
Starchhouse Square. This Lion Brewery pub (on the right of the above photo)
was demolished in the mid 1960s to make way for a ring road. An indoor
market now stands on the site. |

My interest is in dog show history, and the pub and landlord, Martin Long,
are given in the Kennel Club Stud Book for 1921, covering the shows of the
previous year. This is in connection with the top winning Borzoi of 1920,
Champion Village Wonder, presumably born in the pub, or an outhouse in 1916. |
