The Old Sir Simon was situated on Friargate. The
above photo shows the pub decorated
for the opening of Preston dock 1892. This pub was named after Sir Simon
Fraser, the 11th Lord Lovat. He was the last person to be executed on Tower
Hill. He was beheaded there on April 9th 1747 for his involvement with the
Jacobite rebellion of 1715. |
