I lived in this pub until I went into the army
at 18 in 1946. My father, Richard Taylor, was the landlord and brewer of
home brewed beer; he brewed about 1,000 gallons a week and supplied clubs
and shops around Preston from 1922 until he sold the license to Tetleys in
1947.
My grandfather got the pub prior to the 1914
war but leased it when father was called up in 1918, however went back
into the pub after the war. The pub was left to my father and his sister
in 1927. Eventually my father bought out his sister late 1920's and ran
the pub until 1947. I was abroad in the army, Dad wanted me to take it on
when I got demobbed but I did not want it.
