The Bridge House was situated at 23 Barking Road. This
was a famous music pub where many famous rock musicians played. It closed in
the early 1980s and was demolished in 1999. A replacement venue called
Bridgehouse2 has since been built in nearby Bidder Street. |

The Bridge House was the seminal rock
venue in East London and the first pub in the world with its own record
label. Throughout the seventies and eighties it was a regular home to such
bands as Iron Maiden, Depeche Mode, The Blues Band and Secret Affair as well
as the Bridge House generated Wasted Youth. The Bridge House shut its doors
to live music in 1982 and was bulldozed into the ground a couple of years
later. The Bridge House is still remembered fondly by all that have played
and visited the pub on the Canning Town roundabout, beneath the pylons. |
