My family lived practically next door to the Atlas from 1958
to 1960 our address was 27 Lees Rd. I would have been around 14 years old at
the time my mom and dad ran the newsagents shop at 27 Lees road just before
we emigrated to Canada in April 1960. My younger brother and I delivered
newspapers after school in that area a lot of the property had already been
demolished and we played soccer on the empty lot between the pub and the
shop one of my fondest memories was ogling a Lagonda open roadster whose
owner frequented the pub during that time. It would certainly be interesting
if the ownership could be traced and where it is today? I have such fond
memories of that area during that time. I took ballroom dancing lessons at
Billingtons which was just a couple of streets away we went hiking every
weekend up through Greenfield and Chew valley in fact we even made the
headlines in the local paper one weekend when a friend l was hiking with
broke his leg and they had to call out the rescue squad! |
