My great grandfather, George Nuttall, was the
licensee of the Talbot from 1914 until 1933, I believe. My uncle (his
grandson) told me George and his wife Lizzie were presented with a clock by
his customers on their leaving in 1933. George went on to become licensee of
the Engineers Arms on Aspinall Street, one of the few pubs in Heywood which
remains open for business today. |
