The Railway Hotel was situated at 1 High Street. This former Truman’s Brewery pub was here by the 1890s and is probably the same establishment that was earlier on the site since at least 1824 under the name Shipwright’s Arms.  In recent years it has traded as the Fiddler’s Cat and as Bar One.  It closed in 2009.
