Blue Boar

The Blue Boar was situated at 119 High Street. This pub was present by 1828
and closed and demolished in the 1960s. According to A Week's Tramp in
Dickens Land by William Hughes, the real Blue Boar was NOT the inspiration
for the Blue Boar in Great Expectations, but that it was the Bull Inn (Royal
Victoria and Bull Hotel) which better matched the description in the story. |
