The
Call Boy was situated
on
Harmer Street. This pub was built in 1953, replacing the demolished
Assembly Rooms pub. Now used as a bar called Liquorice. |

My grandparents were the first
publicans of this pub about 1954. It was called The Call Boy because it was
built on the site of the old theatre. I spent a lot of my childhood there and
have many wonderful memories of it. They left about 1962/3 |

Shepherd Neame closed this pub in 2008 along with a lot of their others. It
reopened as Bar Liquorice a year later, closing down in 2012. Now used as
Angels, a gay brasserie/bar. |
