George Craddock and his Wife ran this pub when I knew it.
It was a "Football" pub frequented by "Gills" supporters. George himself
was a keen supporter of "The Gills". I was an artificer apprentice in
the above period and used The British Queen as a meeting place to
contact other apprentices and friends during leave periods. I don't know
why this pub was chosen as it was a Style and Winch house and the beer
was not to everybody's taste. |
