The Archcliffe Fort Inn was built on Limekiln Street in 1925 when it replaced the original Archcliff Fort Inn on Bulwark Street. Demolished in 1989 when an extension of the motorway to the Western Docks was built.

Fred Manser 1970s to end Used to clean the dog mess up in the back yard when I was 10 yrs old. Used to get 50p. that was good. Arthur and Vera salmon run the pub then my mother cleaned the pub 6 morning a week. Dad drank in there a lot of the time. Arthur and Vera. We're proper old school landlord and land lady. No nonsense. Early 80s Brian and Sandra Evans took over the pub until the end. Had many a good evenings in there with a few locals gobbles Biggs Cole's Car
