The Bell was situated on The Waits and is now in
residential use. |

My
grandmother and my mother were born at this pub. At the time my great great
grandfather, Samuel Mapperley was the landlord (1855 to 1899). It is now a
private house like lots of other pubs, the chimney breast still has a plaque
on with the name and there is a small sign next to the front door with 'The
Bell' on. |

This pub featured in the BBC series
'Who Do You Think You Are'. One of Joe Lysett's ancestors, who was a chimney
sweep, lived here. |
