The Plough

I have recently been researching The Plough, Graveley Road, Offord Darcy, St. Neots, PE19 5RB. My grandfather was licensee in the late 1950's. The location of The Plough is shown by a small arrow on the map. I have yet to discover when it closed, when my grandfather, Arthur George Adams, was licensee, and which brewery owned it.

I am in the process of conducting a condition survey on the above property for the purchaser, it is currently being sold. The title extract from the Land Registry indicates that the property was owned by Wells and Winch Ltd, a brewer based in Biggleswade. Wells and Winch were purchased by Green King in 1961. The plough was sold into private ownership by Wells and Winch in February 1963. Presumably at this point it became a private residence.
Local views are that it served pilots at the Graveley Airfield during the second world war and that the left hand half was originally timber framed and thatched but burnt down and was rebuilt by the brewery at an unknown point in time. I have not been able to corroborate this.
