The Turkey Cock was situated on Widford Road.  This pub was built in 1941 replacing a pub of the same name on Acorn Street. It became well known as The Crazy Pub and has now been demolished with housing built on the site.

We were just talking about this pub , two sisters I know now in their mid eighties used to go to the crazy pub , there were buttons on the wall that opened doors , and everything was a bit off the wall. We got on the subject because in my early biker days ( 1980,s- present ) we stopped at a place called “ twisted turkey cock “ or similar near hunsdon , remember a one story building , a house with a Lancaster bomber gunners bubble on the roof , signs and trinkets all over the walls , my went to toilet as I stayed in the bar, he pulled the chain on the toilet he was sat on and whole wall dropped down giving open view into the bar .
