The Kings Head was situated at 35 Bridge Street. This pub was present by
1793 and closed in 1966. The original name was The Plough but when rebuilt
1905-6 it became the Plough & Dial including the name of the former Dial
which was sited next-door-but-one. It was renamed in 1961 when the landlord
moved from the King’s Head, Queen Street, bringing that pub’s name with him. |
