The Black Lion was situated at 92 Queen Street (Back Street until 1889). Originally opened as The Curriers Arms in 1783, it was renamed in the 1860s to The Black Lion. It closed on 31st December 1928 and was subsequently demolished, with the site landscaped in the 1930s as St Marys Square.
