The Star was situated at 25 Church Street. This pub was the brewery tap for the adjacent Pale Ale Brewery.  The brewery (and therefore probably also the tap) was established in 1823 and closed in 1904 when it was taken over by Wells & Winch of Biggleswade, Bedfordshire.  That brewery in turn passed to Greene King, who continued to own this pub at the time of its closure in 1980.  The premises are now in commercial use.
