The Bear Inn was situated on Broad
Street and now two houses (named Bear and Ursa House respectively, both
Grade II-listed) it was the Bear Inn in the 17th and 18th centuries. Local
parliamentary candidates would campaign from a balcony at the front of the
building and election results were announced from the same. |
