The Monument

The Monument was situated on Sussex Street. This pub was demolished in 2001 and rebuilt as apartments, with the exterior to the original design.
This was called the Castle Hotel from 1909. It became a Berni Inn (steak bar) in the 1960s but retained its name and a bar separate from the eating areas. It became a Chinese restaurant c1980 and the bar was shut and the Castle Hotel name dropped.
