The Guildhall Tavern was situated on Colebrook Street.
The pub was extended into
part of the Guildhall building facing onto the High Street by Eldridge Pope
in the late 1980s. It was later acquired by Marston
who run it as a Pitcher and Piano outlet. |

This pub was
my regular from 1976 to the early 1980's. The Landlord was Peter Webb and
his wife Pam. They were fantastic hosts and I spent many nights here. There
was a great jukebox and they used to let regulars bring in their own singles
to put on it, as well as a sit down Space Invaders arcade game. I am still
in contact with Pete and Pam now, both are well and in their 80's. I met my
first wife in this pub too. They left the pub in the early 80's to take on a
country pub in Dorset. The landlord then became a chap called Stan, who also
ran The Wykeham Arms in Winchester too. |
