The publican from 1930 to 1954 was Frank Welch then he retired to live in an ex pub called Poulters Rests which was in Lawn Street. The Fox was a lively pub during the war years with all the our servicemen. UK and American plus others. One son qAreputed to have fallen in the river behind the pub and was swept thro under the mill into the weirs, apparently none the worse.
