The Shant was situated on Winchester Road. This
pub later changed its name to The Watercress Line. Closed c1990, it is now
used as an Indian restaurant called The Star. |
|
The Shant got it's name from Shanty, as
it was built as living quaters for workers building the Mid Hants Railway,
which is a few hundred yards from the building. It dates from about 1864.
