The Royal Oak was situated on the Market Place. This pub is now used as an Indian restaurant.

My late father's parents ran this pub in the 1920s. They were Earnest and Beartice Mills and their son, my dad, Gerald Mills, was born there in 1918. His dad, Earnest, was a very practical man and built a large doll's house in the pub so customers would return frequently to see the project's progress. In the alley beside the pub were watering and grooming facilities for horses.
