The Industry was situated at 19 Paradise Street
Portsea. The publican in the 1861 census was Robert Devese, a Royal navy
pensioner. They are still at the address in 1871, however it was no longer a
pub at this time, or in the 1851 census. The above notice shows the 'for
sale' notice in the local newspaper. In the same newspaper, the former
publican was fined £3 inc costs in 1867 for harbouring prostitutes here. |
