Kellys Hotel

Kellys Hotel was situated on Bury Road. This pub closed in the late 1990s and has now been converted into flats.

I used to live across the road from Kellys late 70s to mid 80s. The place was previously called the Tregantle Hotel. Then bought by a south african guy called eddie Allen in the early 80s . Hotel stood empty for many years until bought by property developer. I by then had become a plaster and plastered the flats when redeveloped! It was named after HMS Kelly.

Nick Armstrong 1989 I used to manage this pub towards the end of 1989. MY assistant manager was a fella called 'Kipper'.
The bridal suite was a particularly interesting room with many shenanagins going on. Eddie Allen owned the hotel along with 7 other boozers along the south coast including Pumphrey's No.1 in Bournemouth. His company was called Coastal Leisure. Was always drunk and abusive, particularly to ladies he was never with out his minder "Malcolm!
John Wray 1978 I used to stay here with my then Girlfriend [later to be my first wife] when it was known as the Tregantle Hotel - I seem to remember it was run by a middle aged lady back then - but as I was only 18/ 19 I guess she may have been younger than that anyone over 35 seemed old back then.
