Bunch Of Grapes

The Bunch Of Grapes was situated in
Milk Street. With the building of the inner circuit road in the early 1960’s
this pub found itself on the corner of Bond Street and Newfoundland Street,
it was demolished in 1982 for the Spectrum office building and road
widening. This pub was present by 1800 when the publican was Edward Onion. It
closed in 1976. |

The Bunch Of Grapes contained the
Stonehouse Folk Club. I believe Fred Wedlock’s album “Frollics” was recorded
there.
I played there in the very late ‘70s as part of a band called “Conflicting
Views” when I was about 15. We went down a storm and did so many encores
that the “headline” act eventually got annoyed and unplugged our amps to get
us off stage. Happy days! |
