Near St.Mary-on-the-Quay
the Artichoke was demolished for the Colston Centre in April 1970. The
entrance to the first floor bar was reached via St.Augustine’s Steps at the
side of the pub. This pub was present by 1775 when it was known as The Ship,
and John Cordis was the publican. It changed its name to The Armada in 1891
and closed in 1953. |
