Lions Den

Date of photo: 2019

The Lions Den was situated on Little Clacton Road. Originally known as The Earl Grey, it is now in residential use, with new bungalows built on the car park.

In the sixties myself and my younger twin brothers, under ten all of us, spent many a happy hour watching William Boyd in Hopalong Cassidy films in an outbuilding attached to the pub whilst our mum and dad had a sherbet in the pub. It was called Kate's kinema. We stayed in an ex army Bell tent in gt.holland. I remember sterilised milk as there was no fridge.
