The Rose & Thistle was situated on Heath Street. When the site of the former Blue Anchor was excavated in 1986 a tile and cobble mosaic floor decoration with part of the sign of the Rose and Thistle ale house dated 1614 was discovered but, unfortunately, was not preserved. The site is now a petrol station.
