Barking Dog

Date of photo: 2012

The Barking Dog was situated at 61 Station Parade. This pub was a former supermarket converted to a Wetherspoon's pub in 1993. It closed in March 2022 and the building it is part of is to be demolished and a new building built on the site. This will include a new pub.
Though there have been plans to demolish this place, the plans now being carried out are extensive refurbishment. On closure posters were displayed on the doors saying it would reopen in January 2024. Whether the developers still think they can meet that date I don't know, but work continues.

I have been advised a new building will be built on the site of the now demolished Barking Dog and it will include a pub to be leased to Wetherspoons. It is expected to be completed by 2026.
