Anchor & Hope

The Anchor & Hope was situated at 'Over-the-Gates', West Bank, close to the River Roding, and suffered badly from floods. In 1900 the licensee was Frederick Bragg, great grandfather of Billy Bragg. Closed some time after 1921.

This pub was run by Charles & Harriet Harris, my paternal great aunt and uncle, from 1911 to 1920.
