The Headland Gate was situated on Northgate and was previously known as The Bridge Hotel. This pub closed in 2008.

The pub, at the corner of Northgate and Durham Street, was demolished in 2009, and the site has remained empty ever since. Now “Heron Foods” have submitted plans for a convenience store.
