The Bowes was situated at 81 Skinnergate. This pub is now used as a restaurant.

I used to frequent this pub as a student. It was great as they catered to all sorts. I was in to heavy metal punk etc, and they put on a heavy metal night in the basement once every week. All the freaks in town came out to participate. Upstairs they would have really good quiz nights with cash prizes, the staff were always friendly and it was the number one hang out for students at lunch time from the Poly.
