Red Lion

The Red Lion closed c1970. This pub is now converted into cottages. It was mentioned in 1753, run by John Coombes, who had been running it since 1733, but name didn't come until 1753. By 1896 it was owned by Job Legg. A fire in 1920 ended its life as a pub, the building stood as a ruin till the 1970s, the business was transferred to a house on the opposite side of the road where it continued till 1972 (see new site in above photo).
