Local businesses are reporting the closure of the pub is having an effect on footfall in their businesses, e.g. local fish and chip shop, and corner shop. An application to turn the pub into flats has met with objections and a second application has been submitted. Locals want to retain the pub as a Community Asset - but with the ending of the Government fund for this, fewer and fewer pubs will be retained in this way.
