Anchor Inn

Date of photo: 2012

The Anchor Inn was situated on the south side of East Street near the junction with St Lawrence Lane. Christopher Preston was the landlord in the 1820's and John Caunter was landlord and a tin miner in the 1851 census. Most likely it is the same premises as the Anchor Cafe next door to the former printers, Bradfords. Closed c1844, it was earlier called The Blue Anchor.
