The Anchor Inn was situated on the south side of East Street near the
junction with St Lawrence Lane. Christopher Preston was the landlord in the
1820's and John Caunter was landlord and a tin miner in the 1851 census. Most
likely it is the same premises as the Anchor Cafe next door to the former
printers, Bradfords. Closed c1844, it was earlier called The Blue Anchor. |
