Ye Champion Of Wales was situated on Meeting
Street. |
|
This pub was begun by my Great-Great-Grandfather
John Penney who purchased the house in Meeting Street in 1820 and seems to
have converted it into a public house, using the name "Champion of Wales",
in
1825. The occupier of the house from 1820 was Robert Day and in 1825 he
presumably became the first "host". John still owned it in 1832 and may have
owned it until his death in 1849. |
