The Duke Of Wellington was situated at 22 Main
Road. This pub has now been converted into flats. |

My uncle and aunt kept the Duke of
Wellington pub in Shirland in the 1950s. Their names were Charlie and Rene
Croft. I remember staying with them in the pub when I was a little girl.
They moved to The Horse and Groom in Linby, Notts and were there for around
25 years until retiring in about 1982 |
