The Smithfield  was situated on Meadow Road. This pub opened in 1840 as the Market Hotel as it was situated next to the old Derby cattle market. Renamed The Smithfield in 1982 it was a former Offilers and Bass house. Closed in 2011, sold at auction in  January 2012 and is due to be turned into a restaurant.
This pub has now reopened, as a pub, not a fish restaurant as planned.
