The Rutland Arms was situated at 112
Carrington Street. This pub was built in 1852 has now been demolished with a
block of flats built on the site. |

My great grandmother was the publican of the Rutland Arms in 1911. Her name
was Margaret Green and she had a 4 year old son Lawrence William Green
(Stephenson), my grandfather. She was listed as a widow, she later remarried
a Thomas Arkley Stephenson and I think they continued to run the pub
together for a while. |
